#8 Thirty-two years ago, our beloved friend Esther Burnham invited us to the Opera and then asked me to serve on the Board. She was a remarkable example of selflessness. To the wounded she tended, I saw her give her time and compassion. She is a San Diego native and returned to cover her hometown after working as a video journalist for the Pulitzer Prize-winning Las Vegas Sun. She shot and edited in-depth features for television, radio, and the web, and reported on stories when time allowed.
